I was so excited to get hired to photograph Beth & Matt’s ranch wedding at Eatons Ranch near Sheridan, WY. I had never visited Wyoming before and I was looking forward to this ALL summer. I even planned a girls trip since Beth is my little sister’s long time best friend from high school. So Kyra, Kayla, my 2 girls and I headed for Sheridan late Thursday night. We made it in time for the rehearsal dinner on Friday and captured this gorgeous shot of the valley near sunset on our way there.

We started the wedding day hanging in the cabin with the ladies. As usual things didn’t go EXACTLY as planned but we all orchestrated it well and things went off smoothly!

Here at Sawyer Creek Photography we like to help MAKE the moments happen. Wedding days often get busy and hectic and little moments can get lost in the shuffle. Dad was hanging around waiting to go up to the family formals and everyone was busy getting Beth ready. I made Dad hang out in the cabin and went in and asked Beth to let her Dad see her for the first time. We presented her to him and I think it was worth the few extra moments taken to capture his reaction.

Next we went up to do the formals. A lot of times people have a spot picked out. I KNEW the sun would not be on our side for formals under the arbor but the bride REALLY wanted them there. I took my sister and did a test shot and I was not happy with the lighting. So I showed Beth. I told her its YOUR day but I think the lighting would be much better in a different spot. I am so glad she listened to me. I think you will notice the difference in the two lighting situations! Lesson to future brides-TRUST your photographer 😀

Next we did the ceremony with the mountains in the backdrop. It was so beautiful!!!

After the ceremony we headed out into the woods to capture some shots of the wedding party and the new husband and wife! The backdrops were gorgeous and we got some amazing shots!!

Then we started the reception! The air was starting to cool and the sun was starting to set. It was the perfect end to a perfect day!
